Glam and Gore Zombie!

Hello my fellow Zombies!

In this blog I shall be writing about two make up looks - a Glam Zombie and a Gore Zombie.  I decided to do both looks because there are some people who would want to do something simple and still glam at the same time.  However, there are other people....like me.....who just love to go all out and crazy for Halloween!  So I'm talking about loads of blood, gore and messed up make up.  Both looks are perfect for Halloween and so if you're interested, keep on reading.

I am starting off with the Glam Zombie.

So as you all know, zombies are dead and so the main aim is to look dead but still a bit glam.  In the photo below, my face is extremely pale because that's how a dead persons skin would be, so I applied white face paint all over my face and on my neck.  Don't forget to put the white on your lips also, as this would really bring out the dead look.  I made sure not to apply so much white paint because I didn't want to look like a clown, so just apply small amounts and spread that out evenly.  If you don't want to look so pale, then I suggest you use a foundation which is way lighter than your skin tone as this would make you look slightly paler already.  Set that with a translucent powder.

I filled in my eyebrows using my H&M powder set and just gave them more definition. For the eyes, I used my MAC dazzlelight velux pearl for the base and a dark brown colour on the crease, which is also from MAC.  You can use any dark brown for this. I added some black eye shadow from my NYX eye shadow palette, to really darken my eyes and to make them look hollow.  I kept on blending the two colours and then I added the same colours on my lower lash line and smoked that out.  I also shaded the under eye area to look more dead.  Of course, you are not a glam zombie if you don't have a fierce winged eyeliner because I have to have that wing even in the afterlife!  I used my favourite NYX liquid eyeliner for this. Apply mascara and the eyes are done.

Now time to look slightly more dead looking!  Zombies look very hollow so I made sure to contour my cheek bones to really create that hollow look and then I contoured my nose.  Really define that contour and bring it down to the side of your mouth. To really define that contour, I used the same MAC brown colour and my contour kit. With the same black colour, I also shaded under my lips and applied that on the centre of my lips only, still keeping that pale look.  To complete this look and make myself look even more sunken in, I hollowed out my collar bone and my jaw.

Gore Zombie!

This is my favourite part - getting all gory and disgusting!  Just for this time of the year I feel it's just so much fun to go crazy and all out.  I decided to use liquid latex for this look as I created two cuts: one on my cheek and on my forehead (as shown in the photo).  For those of you who don't know how to use liquid latex, please do not apply it on your eyebrows or next to your hair, as you won't have an eyebrow afterwards - trust me!  Be careful applying it next to your eyes also.

So basically, I kept the same look as my Glam Zombie and just added those cuts and loads of bruising and blood.  To create that gory cut, first you have to apply a layer of liquid latex on the area where you want your cut and then cover it with a piece of tissue.  Once dry, add another layer of latex  on the tissue and add another piece of tissue on the latex.  Repeat this 5 more times, so you'll have 5 layers of latex and tissue.  It's important that you wait for the latex to dry.  Whilst you're waiting for it to dry, smudge your eye make up and add some more black.  Really go crazy for this part!  Add some fake veins with a lip liner to create that creepy look.  I used a dark red colour which I bought from NYX.  You can also add some bruising on your neck and collar bones.  Once the latex has dried, cover it up with foundation and of course some white face paint so it blends to your skin.  This is really important that it blends properly so that it looks more realistic.  Now for the scary part, grab some scissors or tweezers, and try to cut the latex to create that cut effect.  Be very careful not to cut your skin, however you would definitely notice if you poked your skin.  Open that cut and add some red liner and red eye shadow.  Deepen that cut with black eye shadow too.  To make it look more realistic add a lot of bruising around the cut with red, blue and purple eye shadow. Blend those colours to make the perfect bruise! Of course, the final step is BLOOD!  Add as much blood as you like and don't forget to add in the inside of the cut. Finished!

Make up Details of my "Pre and Post Op Plastic Surgery Barbie"

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Today I will be writing about all the products used and how I did my "Pre and Post Op Plastic Surgery Barbie".  Seeing as it was quite a hit, I want to show you guys exactly how I did this look so that maybe you can recreate this look for yourselves since it's Halloween this weekend.  You can choose whichever look you prefer, either the "Pre Op Barbie" or the "Post Op Barbie".  Personally, I would go for the Post Op Barbie since it's more of a gory look and Halloween is the time of the dead!  So you can go as gory as you like because the scarier you are - the better!  However, you can do as you please.  If any of you decide to do this look, please tag me on Instagram or Facebook, as I would love to see everyone's recreations of this look.  My Instagram is: Suzanne1818.

So let's get started!
I am starting off with the "Pre Op Barbie".  It is important that first you look at some pictures as a guide before you start this make up look.  Barbie always has bright pink lips and purple/pink eye shadow.  Also, Barbie is blonde, so for those of you who aren't blonde, I suggest that you buy a wig from Ebay or wherever you find so that you can really look like Barbie.  I am already blonde so this step was irrelevant for me, however once I had bought a blonde, long wig from Ebay and it was perfect and reasonably priced.

Before starting any make up look, I suggest that you prime your face first because a primer helps smooth fine lines and your face would look smoother.  Afterwards, I applied my all time favourite foundation which is the L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour matte in the shade sand.  To remove any redness, pimples and my dark circles under my eyes I used my WJCON liquid concealer in the shade sand.  I prefer liquid concealers as I feel it really has a great coverage.  Barbie has a flawless face so make sure to cover up any spots or blemishes.  To set all of this, I used my Rimmel Stay Matte long lasting pressed powder in the shade warm beige.  It is extremely important to set your foundation with a powder so that your make up will last longer, especially if you're planning on staying out the whole night.  Without applying any powder you would notice that your foundation would come off very easily.  To finish off the face, I contoured my cheek bones and my nose as Barbie has a perfect face so I tried to copy that.  I used my Seventeen Define and Conquer kit which I had bought from Boots in London.  Unfortunately, you would not find this product here in Malta.  The last step is blusher and Barbie has very bright cheeks so I used my NYX blush which is a pink/red colour, which is called Intuition.  I use this blush all the time as I absolutely love it!

For my eyebrows, I really love to fill them in and create the perfect brow shape and for this I used my Eye Brow Shaping powder which I had bought from H&M, funnily enough.  Any pencil or powders will do.  Make sure to fill in your brows and create a defined brow shape just like Barbie's.  Of course, don't forget to conceal under the brow to create a sharp effect!

Next step are the eyes!  For the base, I used my favourite eye shadow from MAC which is called Dazzlelight Velux Pearl.  It is the perfect base colour for any look!  So I really suggest this eye shadow.  Once that was done, I grabbed a pink colour from my Sabas eye palette and applied that on my crease and blended that out. Afterwards I added some purple and blended that with the pink. Also, I applied both colours under my eyes and blended that out nicely.  To recreate Barbie's big eyes, I used a white eye pencil on the waterline as this creates the illusion of bigger eyes.  So basically I had a pink and purple smokey eye.  Keep on blending the colours till you're satisfied, it is very important that you don't have a harsh line of pink or purple, you would have to keep on blending till it looks smooth. Next, I applied my favourite liquid eyeliner from NYX and I did a long thin wing.  Of course, Barbie has beautiful eyelashes so I applied my Kiko mascara first, on the top and bottom lashes and put on my fake lashes which I bought from Balluta Pharmacy and they are 100% human hair.  It is important to apply mascara first so that your lashes would blend in with the fake lashes.  I don't suggest you apply mascara on the fake lashes as this could ruin them.

For the lips, I lined my lips with WJCON 17 shocking pink and applied a liquid lipstick, also from WJCON in the colour shocking pink, since Barbie has full, plump, pink lips! A little trick was that I slightly lined over my lip to create bigger and fuller lips.

The face is now complete!

For the plastic surgery marks, basically I just got my NYX liquid eyeliner and made small lines and arrows around the areas that I wanted for surgery,  I am not a plastic surgeon so I just winged this part.  I did around my eyes, my cheekbones, my nose, forehead, chin, neck, collar bones and my boobs.  You can add as many lines as you wish! This part you can really be creative! And that is all!

The Post Op Barbie was definitely easier as I just smudged all the eyeliner marks with my hand and added red/blue/purple and black eye shadow to create bruises. Those are the main colours if you want that perfect bruise! I did this everywhere where I had the plastic surgery marks and of course I added some of my fake blood to really make this look gory.  I did not touch my eyes as I still wanted to look like Barbie.  Finish off the look with a pretty pink top or a dress and you are ready to go!

Really hope that this was helpful, the pictures are below for a guide to the look.  Please if you have any difficulties or any questions, leave a comment below and I will definitely reply back.  If you didn't understand something or would like to know more about a certain product that I used, feel free to leave a comment.  This was a really fun look and I feel it's just perfect for Halloween, whichever one you choose. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for my next blog which would be another Halloween look but this time not as gory!  You would have to wait and find out what look I am creating in my next blog.

First Blog - my passion; Make-Up

Hello everybody!

So as everyone can notice from the title, this is my first blog and I am so excited to start blogging and showing you guys different make-up looks and talking about my passion; which of course is make-up.  I've decided to start this blog because so many of my friends and my family have been telling me to start one and so I've finally decided to do so.

I posted a Halloween photo of "Pre and Post Op Plastic Surgery Barbie" and the response that I got out of it was absolutely amazing!!  I was so shocked with how many likes and comments I got, that I just had to start off this blog.  Make-up is definitely a huge passion of mine and I want to pursue it further and hopefully become a well-known make-up artist in Malta.

I love applying all kinds of make-up looks, not just scary and gory looks.  I love special effects make-up and I also love glam/evening looks.  The photo is below and hope that you guys love it! It was so much fun to do and I will write another blog about how I did this look and the products used. It was easy to do and I feel that it's a fun and creative Halloween costume! So if you like this look, stay tuned for my next blog :)  I really hope that you guys enjoy my blogs from now on and if you have any questions or difficulties, feel free to contact me or leave any comments.

This is definitely something new for me and I am so excited! I would definitely love to thank my best friend Chi and my family for always supporting me regarding make-up and always pushing me to do something about it!  Well, finally I am.

Lots of love - Suzanne P.D
